Friday of the First Week
Reflection
In the first reading, we are reminded that in order to truly live, we must renounce our sins and our wickedness. If we are to do so, we can live fully with God. It is through our intention to do good that we can become fully connected to God. We shall live, and not die, as God will accept us for our commitment to be virtuous.
The Gospel reminds us that we are to forgive, and that we are to seek forgiveness from others. If we do not seek forgiveness on both ends, then we will take with us regret and our actions will be with us on the Day of Judgment. We should seek forgiveness from those whom we have hurt and give forgiveness to those who have hurt us.
God wants to remind us that, although we are imperfect beings, we can still find reconciliation through Him and turn to Him. He will forgive us, but we must also forgive others. At the same moment when we reject our sins and turn to God in a virtuous manner, He will be there with arms wide open, waiting for us to join Him.
Prayer
God, we thank You for receiving us with open arms even after we have been wicked in the past. We pray that You will continue to guide us down the path of virtue so that we may not die, but live with You forever. Amen.
