Wednesday of the Third Week

Reflection

Throughout the Gospel Jesus uses the phrase the Kingdom of Heaven is like... The phrase is foundational to Jesus’ teaching.

While the full realization of the Kingdom of Heaven lies in the future, Jesus also says The Kingdom of Heaven is within you. It is at hand at this moment. It is also now. We awaken into it.

The Kingdom of Heaven is a metaphor for a state of mind and heart that sees no separation between God and humans, between humans and other humans. Oneness with the Ground of Being is a complete mutual indwelling. We abide in the Living God now, in this time. God is in each of us. We are each other. Jesus says I am the vine; you are the branches. Abide in my love.

Prayer

Awaken us, Beloved Friend, to your Presence in this sacramental universe, your heart one with every heart and being.
Awaken us from timidity in love-daring, peace-making and justice-doing in the day-to-day.
May your reign of Self-Emptying Love become real to us in all our relationships --- in families, in local communities, in our nation and with all of creation.

Amen.
