Monday of the Second Week

Reflection

As Christians, we struggle daily with sinfulness and trying to do what is right. God asks us to act in His image, in the way that He created us. The Lord is beautiful in every way, and it is sometimes difficult to act like Him. In today’s readings, we are asked to not be judgmental, to forgive others, and give our gifts to others. We can do this by showing kindness toward others, and trying to be patient when we feel angry at others, and by sharing our talents. These talents may be shared through volunteering and community service, getting involved in church ministry, or simply being there for a friend.

However, it is not always easy to act in God’s image. On some days, we may look at ourselves as sinners and as having done wrong towards God. Sometimes it is difficult to cope with being sinful; we can feel very bad about doing wrong. In the Psalm, we ask “Lord, do not deal with us according to our sins.” It is best to try to remember that God’s love for us is everlasting, and He wants us to be the best that we can be. So, every day, we must each try to be the best version of ourselves, and know that the Lord does not judge us according to our sins, but by the good that we do, and with unconditional love.

Prayer

Lord of unconditional love, please do not judge us according to our sins, and forgive us when we go against Your wishes. Lead us to act in Your image, and be the best version of ourselves.

Mission of Edmundite Campus Ministry

The Mission of Edmundite Campus Ministry at Saint Michael’s College is to share the Good News of the Gospel with the College community by facilitating encounter with Jesus Christ. We do this through the celebration of the Church’s Liturgy, in programs promoting knowledge of the Catholic faith, by developing ecumenical and interreligious relationships, and providing retreats and other opportunities for personal spiritual growth.

The Catholic and Edmundite tradition upon which the College was founded is grounded in the conviction that all women and men are created in the image and likeness of God providing a special dignity unique to each person. Such dignity requires human life to be respected in all of its stages recognizing that we are all children of God.

Therefore, in its pursuit of furthering the Reign of God, the Edmundite Campus Ministry staff seeks to interact with and support every member of the College community in their search for Truth, contributing to the “enhancement of the human person and to the advancement of human culture in light of the Catholic faith.”
